Why I Ask Questions

I am a high school student with a deep curiosity about how people make decisions - and how those decisions shape businesses, economies and society. While my academic interests lie in Economics, Finance and the behavioural sciences, I have become increasingly fascinated by the human side of decision-making: why people choose one path over another, how incentives influence behaviour, and how effective leaders navigate complexity and uncertainty.

That curiosity has shaped much of my journey beyond the classroom. Over the past few years, I have sought opportunities to learn directly from the industry by completing internships with organisations including KPMG (Dubai), Intelligent Financial Consultants, InsuringU.ae, and 32Reasons Dental Centre (Mumbai). Working across Audit, Finance, Operations and Business Advisory has given me first-hand exposure to how organisations make strategic decisions, manage risk, interpret financial information and adapt to changing market conditions. More importantly, it has shown me that successful businesses are built not only on numbers, but on people, leadership and sound judgement.

This curiosity has also inspired one of my most meaningful personal projects: interviewing senior leaders from a diverse range of industries—including entrepreneurs, CEOs, doctors, lawyers, artists and business owners—to better understand how they make decisions in the real world. Through these conversations, I explore topics such as behavioural economics, leadership, innovation, business strategy, healthcare systems, finance and organisational growth. Rather than simply documenting careers, I aim to understand the principles that underpin effective leadership across different sectors.

Alongside my academic interests, music has played an equally important role in my development. As a member of the National Youth Orchestra and my school orchestra, I have been fortunate to perform at internationally recognised venues including Carnegie Hall (New York), Konzerthaus and Musikverein (Vienna), and Dubai Opera. Performing in world-class ensembles has taught me discipline, resilience, collaboration and the importance of striving for excellence—qualities that continue to influence every aspect of my life.

Communication and leadership are equally important to me. Through the Dubai Gavel Club (Toastmasters), mentoring younger students, and leading in-school initiatives, I continue to develop my ability to communicate ideas clearly, listen thoughtfully and engage with diverse perspectives. Whether speaking to an audience or interviewing experienced professionals, I have learned that meaningful conversations often begin with thoughtful questions.

Outside academics, I remain committed to giving back to my community by mentoring students in Mathematics and English, supporting educational initiatives, and participating in community service projects. These experiences have reinforced my belief that leadership is measured not only by achievement, but by the positive impact we create for others.

This website brings together many of these experiences. It serves as a living portfolio of interviews, reflections and research that explores business, economics and human behaviour beyond the classroom. More than a record of what I have done, it represents how I think, how I learn, and how I hope to continue contributing as I prepare for university and beyond.
